Actually scratch that - apologies (wish you could delete these posts). Turns out it was just behaving oddly in my iTunes. Fed it through Audacity and re-exported it and it’s fine now. Cheers!

For Mac users just rebuild it with MP3 Scan+Repair google it its free. I actually scan all my downloaded mp3 files with it for errors. After getting quite a few messed up mp3s over the years I’ve learned you can never be to careful.

This mp3 file contains errors, which is why people are reporting problems.
Any chance of a re-rip?

Further research has shown that the errors in the file come every time there’s a new track, so that’s why some people are only getting the first 29 secs before an error occurs.
Every time there’s an error the file loses sync so most players just stop playing.
You can play it with VLC but I’ve had to transcode it to wav, edit out the errors, then back to in my case ipod audiobook format. YMMV

Thanks for the advice Kruppe. I imported the mp3 into Audacity then exported it as a new mp3. Now it works perfectly in iTunes.
