Set in the 24th Century in a world where forests have been erased from history, Forest 404 is an immersive sci-fi thriller starring Pearl Mackie, Tanya Moodie and Pippa Haywood – with original music by Bonobo
So, what is it all about? Forest 404 is set after a data crash called The Cataclysm. Pan, our protagonist, is a young woman with a boring job sorting and deleting old sound files that survived the crash. She uncovers a set of eerie, provocative sound recordings from the early 21st century that haunt her.
What are we willing to lose, and who are we willing to become?
They are recordings of rainforests – places which no longer exist – and Pan feels compelled to hunt down the truth about how the forests of the old world died.
All the time she is pursued by the agents of the new world’s ruling powers.
The drama will provoke you to imagine the world we know today as a thing of the ancient past, to picture a scenario where all we have left of the earth’s verdant ecology is a few endangered audio files.

another new scifi audiobook with a female protagonist wtf is going on, I don’t really connect with most female characters, and why aren’t I seeing the benefits of this if it were because a bunch of chicks are reading scifi audiobooks, but I doubt that, or id see them at the places I go to. I am married but just saying there cant be that many, which I am not even claiming is a good thing but why is the industry pandering to a sex that isnt interested?

why are there so many books about wizards ? I’m not a wizard, so I can’t relate to books about them.
Sprockets, i’m sure more than one book in the world was written for someone other than you.
I’m sure you can find a book with a white male as the main character, if you look hard enough.

I am a female and have been reading hard science fiction for probably longer than you have been alive so knock it off with the childish sexist comments! If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Lots of “chicks” read science fiction, we just don’t go around complaining about every little thing we don’t like like. Sprockets is definitely a very small male troll with very big insecurities.

An all female cast? They couldn’t find one male, or may be this has no male characters? This sounds like some leftist “Social Justice”/feminist trash.

This audio drama is absolutely brilliant. The writing is perfect and the voice acting is supperb. There are a few monologues here that are nothing short of breath taking. Sound production is amazing too, so is the sountrack.
My only complaint is about the accent of the third character. It’s way too heavy, which makes it quite hard for non natives to understand.
A masterpiece, still. I’ve listened to many audio dramas (podcasts, not many from BBC) and it is really hard to find something solid like this.
For people looking for outstanding audio dramas, I also recommend 36 Questions (heartwarming drama) and Big Data (comedy).

There should never be an all female cast in sci-fi, unless it is suppose to be erotic, sci-fi has a MALE audience
