Thanks very much for the 6 channel version friend.
Any chance you could do these 6 channel versions for books 1 and 2? My audiobook listening app doesn’t play the Atmos version (no idea why) but they play these 6 channel versions just fine.
I tried other apps, but I returned to my old one cause it did everything I needed and organized things exactly how I wanted. All the others had little annoyances.

I had the same problem (Android without Dolby support - Nothing Phone 2).
You have two options - either play these two specific books through KODI/VLC or convert the file from EA-C 3 (with Atmos layer) to AAC 5.1 - and you will have a file like for books 3 and 4.
You can ask chatGPT for help with it.

Can I ask how you recorded this? I have been making headphone surround mixes from Dolby Atmos books, but now I can’t access them I’m stymied.
If I knew how you do it, maybe I can do it too…

On a mac, you can reproduce the atmos version using the ipad app for A. I use BlackHole to get access to internal audio, Audacity to record in flac, and ffmpeg to convert to ACC.

what’s the file size/bitrate like for the FLAC? have you considered foing FLAC to ALAC instead of AAC? m4b can still contain ALAC just fine and would avoid any loss.

The FLAC is ~5x larger than the ACC version. The original Atmos bitrate is 768kbps. I haven’t tried ALAC but my guess is that, for most people, the massive size of ALAC files isn’t worth the marginal improvement in sound quality.

Nah you’re right there. 5x would be too much. Was just brainstorming to see if we could get even closer to the original. (I’d be super grateful if you wouldn’t mind sharing the FLAC though)

TheLastAirbender, could you please explain the differences between the versions like yours and just surround? I’m not sure I’m getting the true experience with yours, using a galaxy s23 ultra with dolby sound on + airpods pro 3. Is that all I need to do?
I also tried on PC but haven’t installed anything that dolby app I heard exists, just plain mpc + headphones.

He actually did a pretty good explanation. This still has full surround sound, but the Atmos height channels have juts been flattened since there’s really no way to preserve that without the original source. This is the best you’re going to get without listening to it directly on Audible.

If I listen to this version on my MacBook speakers, the audio quality between this version and the original Audible version won’t be very different. It will be unnoticeable. Am I right?
