Great to see someone using the modern codecs — really
but would love to mention that Opus is great for books with voice only as the opus is primarily optimized for human voice. if going for full-cast books ( the ones with music and fx ) i would strongly recommend using
heaac v2 (fdk-aac @v2) .. as this one is better suited for such content. Even 64kbps for fullcast ( 32kbps for each channel ) sounds great !
thanks again

I agree, all that I have from here were converted to opus before archiving, @42kbps with a sample rate of 48k, which doesn’t diminish quality from m4b or mp3 with 64kbps & a sample rate of 44k

heaac v2 (fdk-aac @v2) sucks, mostly beacause designed 15 years ago, stop promote this old garbage.
Opus is a general codec, not designed for voice only (check their website), and easily kills heaac by performance.

wekk ,, i decided to do some reading … and i’m reading stuff about opus i did not read before , as i was under the impression opus was specificaly designed for voice. So i feel confused … as i remember doing some comparison testing on Doctor Who full cast from big finish and i remember he-aac v2 being clearly on top of opus.. when it came to general performance. The voice might have been smidge worse.. but music and effects were like gazilion times better when compared to opus. So i guess i’m gonna do some testing again and some comparison to see which one is better :)
